CDC State Tobacco Activities Tracking and Evaluation (STATE) System

The STATE System was developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Office on Smoking and Health (OSH), National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. The STATE System is designed to integrate many data sources to provide comprehensive summary data and facilitate research and consistent data interpretation. This site is an electronic data warehouse containing up-to-date and historical state-level data on tobacco use prevention and control.

Maternal and Child Health Policy

National Youth Development Information Center

The National Youth Development Information Center (NYDIC) is a project of the National Collaboration for Youth. NYDIC provides practice-related information about youth development to national and local youth-serving organizations at low cost or no cost. Kaiser Family Foundation - State Health Facts

The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation is an independent philanthropy focusing on the major health care issues facing the nation in three main areas: health policy, media and public education, and health and development in South Africa. The site has daily reports on reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. Society for Research on Adolescence

Through its biennial meetings and publishing effort, the Society for Research on Adolescence (SRA) promotes the dissemination of research on adolescents and serves as a network and forum for its members. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the Federal agency charged with improving the quality and availability of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation services in order to reduce illness, death, disability, and cost to society resulting from substance abuse and mental illnesses. SAMHSA is made up of three centers: The Center for Mental Health Services, The Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, and The Center for Substance Abuse Treatment. The Advocacy Institute - State Tobacco Control Briefing Papers

The Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law

The Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law was founded in 1972 by a group of committed lawyers and professionals in mental health and mental retardation. Known until 1993 as the Mental Health Law Project, the name today honors the federal appeals court judge whose landmark decisions pioneered the field of mental health law. A key report, Avoiding Cruel Choices: A Guide for Policymakers and Family Organizations on Medicaid's role in Preventing Custody Relinquishment, can be found on the site. The center also has an online bulletin which gives updates on legislation for mental health issues.

UCLA School Mental Health Project, Center for Mental Health in Schools

The School Mental Health Project (SMHP) works closely with school districts, state agencies, the New American Schools Urban Learning Center model, and organizations and colleagues across the U.S. The Center was extablished as part of a major initiative to foster mental health in schools. The web site hosts a clearinghouse of articles and materials designed to assist service providers in delivering mental health services in schools, including program planning & development strategies, model program descriptions and funding opportunities, as well as technical assistance services.
